JUDGES
Judges are promoted from the
ranks of lawyers. Is there a better way?
If they
have been a criminal lawyer, their whole working life has been one
where the Police were the “enemy”.
Now, they have to set that
aside and become “impartial”. Truly a difficult feat.
If they have been a civil lawyer, I found that
when they handled a criminal case (usually for a friend), they
were woefully inadequate.
I suggest that the French system be investigated
whereby persons wishing to become Judges go to University to learn
to become Judges; they are rarely practising lawyers first. This
way, we would end up with better Judges.
Mind you, this is a little like expecting the
Government to reduce the number of their Members.
